Route Planning Interface
The planning interface provides comprehensive tools for creating custom routes.
Activity Type Selection
Choose your route type from the top bar:
- Walking - Plan pedestrian routes
- Hiking - Plan trail and off-road hiking routes
- Cycling - Plan bike-friendly routes
- Driving - Plan vehicle routes
Map Controls
- Use the map to select waypoints for your route
- Zoom and pan to find your desired area
- The app will calculate the best path between points based on your selected activity type
- View real-time elevation and distance information
How to Create a Planned Route
- Access planning from the main map by tapping the pencil icon
- Select your activity type from the top toolbar (walking, hiking, cycling, or driving)
- Tap on the map to place your starting point
- Continue tapping to add waypoints along your desired route
- The app will automatically connect points with appropriate paths for your activity type
- Use the elevation profile to review terrain difficulty
- Save your planned route for future use or navigation
- Export to GPX format or start navigation directly from the planning interface
Route Editing
After creating a route, you can:
- Drag waypoints to adjust the path
- Add points by tapping on the route line
- Remove points by long-pressing a waypoint
- Reverse direction to flip start and end points
- View statistics including total distance and elevation gain
Saving Your Route
When you're satisfied with your route:
- Tap the Save button
- Give your route a name
- Add a description (optional)
- Choose activity type
- Set privacy level (public/private)
- Tap Save
Your saved routes can be found in Profile then Saved Routes.
Using Planned Routes
Saved routes can be used for:
- Navigation - Start turn-by-turn guidance
- Reference - View on map while recording
- Sharing - Send to friends or export as GPX
- Modification - Edit and update anytime
Route Calculation Methods
The app uses different routing algorithms based on activity type:
- Hiking - Prioritizes trails and paths
- Cycling - Uses bike-friendly roads and paths
- Walking - Focuses on pedestrian routes
- Driving - Uses road networks with turn-by-turn
Tips for Better Route Planning
- Check elevation profile before finalizing long routes
- Add rest stops as waypoints for multi-day hikes
- Consider terrain difficulty when planning hiking routes
- Download offline maps of the area before your trip
- Test short routes before tackling longer adventures
