Understanding the navigation interface

Screen Layout

The navigation screen is optimized for quick glances while moving.

Top Section

  • Trail name - Where you're going
  • ETA - Estimated time of arrival
  • Settings - Quick access to navigation options

Map Area

  • Your position - Blue arrow showing location and direction
  • Trail line - The path you're following (highlighted)
  • Upcoming turns - Markers for navigation points

Direction Panel

  • Large arrow - Points toward next waypoint
  • Next instruction - "Turn left in 200m"
  • Distance - To next instruction

Bottom Stats

Quick reference information:

  • Remaining - Distance left to destination
  • Elapsed - Time spent navigating
  • Speed - Current pace/speed

Quick Actions

Tap to Reveal

Tap the screen to show/hide:

  • Zoom controls
  • Layer switcher
  • Voice toggle
  • Full stats panel

Swipe Gestures

  • Swipe up - Expand stats panel
  • Swipe down - Minimize stats

Map Interaction

Auto-Follow

By default, the map follows your movement:

  • Map rotates with your direction
  • Position stays centered
  • Zoom adjusts automatically

Manual Control

  • Pan/zoom - Temporarily override auto-follow
  • Recenter button - Return to auto-follow mode

Night Mode

For evening navigation:

  1. Tap Settings (gear icon)
  2. Enable Night Mode
  3. Screen dims and colors adjust
  4. Easier on eyes in darkness

Screen Always On

Keep the screen visible:

  1. Navigation automatically prevents sleep
  2. Adjust brightness as needed
  3. Consider using battery saver mode for long trips

Widgets

Customize displayed information:

  1. Tap Settings then Widgets
  2. Choose which stats to show:
    • Speed
    • Elevation
    • Time
    • Bearing
    • Coordinates

Accessibility

Large Text Mode

  1. Enable in app settings
  2. All navigation text increases
  3. Better visibility while moving

High Contrast

  • Brighter colors
  • Thicker trail lines
  • Larger markers
