Best for: Identifying landmarks, terrain preview
Terrain
Elevation-focused view:
- Hillshading for depth
- Elevation coloring
- Contour lines
- Geographic features
Best for: Hiking, understanding terrain difficulty
Topographic
Detailed outdoor map:
- Detailed contour lines
- Trail markings
- Elevation points
- Natural features
Best for: Serious hikers, backcountry navigation
Changing Map Type
- Tap the Layers button (stack icon)
- Select your preferred map type
- Map updates immediately
Hybrid Views
Combine satellite imagery with overlays:
- Satellite + Labels - Aerial with place names
- Satellite + Trails - Aerial with trail lines highlighted

Offline Map Types
When downloading for offline use:
- Choose your preferred base map
- Download additional types separately
- Each type increases storage
Tip: For hiking, download both Topographic and Satellite for the best flexibility.

Map Quality
Adjust detail level:
- Data Saver - Less detail, faster loading
- Normal - Balanced quality
